Flat-panel TV prices expected to dip this Holiday Season
Slowing demand and overproduction could result in lower prices on flat-panel TVs in time for the crucial winter-holiday shopping season, Deutsche Bank Securities analyst Mike Baker says.
Flat-panel TVs represent about 15 percent of Best Buy's sales. Average prices are expected to dip to $950 in the fourth quarter from $1,091 a year earlier, says Riddhi Patel, analyst with the market-research group iSuppli. She expects buying to pick up after discounts in the latter half of this year as retailers step up advertising related to the country's transition to digital television in February.
