RUMOR: Apple iPhone to be sold at Best Buy stores in time for holidays
Having caught up with initial demand, Apple Inc. is preparing to broaden its iPhone distribution to several prime retailers well ahead of the holiday shopping season, AppleInsider has learned.
Since introducing the handset on June 29th, the Cupertino-based firm has confined sales of the device to Apple and AT&T retail stores, in addition to its online shop. But over the next 4 to 6 weeks, iPhone inventories should start cropping up at other high-profile retailers and prime AT&T wireless partners, people familiar with the matter say.
Among those first in line for the gadget is specialty electronics retailer and Apple's new best friend in the retail business, Best Buy. By October -- and more likely by September -- all Best Buy locations should have iPhones on hand to sell to customers. Lavish video displays, like those erected in Apple retail store windows ahead of the phone's launch, may also turn up at the electronics stores.
Since launching a small pilot program to test Mac sales at 7 Best Buy locations last year, Apple has formed a much closer relationship with the retailer. During a recent conference call with analysts, members of the company's leadership confirmed plans to expand the pilot to 200 stores by the end of September, and 300 in total by the end of the year.
However, in speaking to AppleInsider, those close to Best Buy say the two firms hold a more ambitious internal goal of completing the 300-store expansion by the end of September. By that time, they say, approximately 40 percent of Best Buy outlets will offer nearly 80 percent of Apple's entire product line.
Best Buy stores included as part of the expansion are each being equipped with isolated Apple display areas featuring snazzy furnishings and a mini-theater display with stereo sound.
"Apple is a very strong focus for us [right now]," commented a source close to Best Buy's retail operations. "The displays are incredible and very popular -- they are very eye-catching to our customers."
On a related note, that same source recently drew attention to an instant $10 savings on current generation video iPod models that Best Buy has been offering customers at its retail stores. While Best Buy frequently offers such discounts via its online shop, the source notes that those discounts are only extended to brick-and-mortar stores ahead of major product refreshes.
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As the end of the analog broadcast era draws near, Best Buy, the nation’s largest consumer electronics retailer, is taking steps to create a smooth transition to digital television (DTV) for all consumers. That’s why Best Buy today announced that they have pulled all remaining analog television products from store shelves and will only sell digital video tuners in the future. The company also announced that they will participate in the NTIA DTV Converter Box Coupon Program to help people purchase digital converter boxes for their analog televisions. Coupon-eligible converter boxes will be available in Best Buy stores beginning in early 2008.
Best Buy is the first CE retailer to publicly announce an exit from the analog television business. Stores were instructed to stop selling these products on October 1, 2007.
“We are committed to helping people understand the digital television transition, and exiting the analog video business is one way we can help avoid confusion,” said Mike Vitelli, senior vice president of electronics for Best Buy. “Customers can now be sure that any television they purchase at Best Buy will be fully compliant with the digital television transition. And for customers who aren’t in the market for a new television, we can help you find the best solution to meet your needs.”
Best Buy has been providing in store and online information about the DTV transition since early 2006. Brochures are available in stores and detailed information can be found on BestBuy.com. Best Buy’s home theater specialists have also been trained to answer questions and help customers figure out the best way to comply with the DTV transition. These education efforts will continue to grow through the remainder of 2007 all the way through the transition date in February 2009.
Three Options For Consumers to Comply with the DTV Transition
By February 17, 2009, consumers who receive over-the-air TV programming will have three options to receive TV broadcast signals after the DTV transition. These three options include:
Purchase a digital-to-analog converter box that plugs in to an existing television. The converter boxes will be available at Best Buy locations in early 2008.
Subscribe to a cable, satellite or telecommunications service provider if all desired local broadcast stations are carried by that service.
Purchase a new television set with a built-in digital tuner. For consumers choosing to purchase a new digital TV, Best Buy will provide recycling options for the existing television.
Best Buy will Accept NTIA DTV Converter Box Coupons
Beginning January 1, 2008, US households can request up to two electronic coupons, at a value of $40 each, that can be used at Best Buy and other participating retailers toward the purchase of eligible digital-to-analog converter boxes.
Best Buy will begin to stock and sell coupon-eligible DTV converter boxes and will be accepting NTIA coupons beginning in early 2008. An exact date for the rollout of the boxes in stores is still being determined.

Toshiba - HD DVD High-Definition DVD Player $99.99
Yesterday Best Buy ran the Toshiba HD-A2 for $169 on-line and in-store. This morning the price was lowered to $99.99. I suppose this is to compete with Wal-Mart. They are sold out online, but there are several Best Buy locations near me that show them as being in stock. If you bought from Best Buy in the last 30 days for a higher price, or any other retailer that price matches, immediately get it price matched at the store you bought from to get a refund for the difference. _________________ Daddyodeals has the largest selection of Coupon Codes HERE --Daddyodeals has the BEST Hot Deals HERE

Minneapolis — Best Buy today launched Best Buy Video Sharing, a Web-based service customers can use to store and share videos.
Created in partnership with Mydeo, a provider of streaming video hosting for home and business users, the advertising-free, subscription-based service allows users to choose who can view the videos they upload.
“With the growing popularity of video, fueled in part by social networking sites, we’ve actually seen an increase in customer demand for alternative video-sharing solutions. Many customers, particularly families with children, don’t want their personal memories available for anyone to see in the public domain nor to they want to share them in a cluttered environment that includes advertising,” said Kevin Winneroski, VP, Best Buy. “Through Best Buy Video Sharing, customers can safely store their videos and share them only with the friends and family they choose.”
According to a release, the service will be merchandised online and in Best Buy stores and the retailer will also take a minority equity stake in Mydeo.
Subscriptions start at $6.97 for 100 minutes of video hosting and video lengths up to 30 minutes each. Premium plans are also available for longer videos, more video storage capacity and other sharing features. The service can be found at www.bestbuy.com/videosharing

Get an early shot at some of our best prices and hard-to-find gifts. Quantities are limited. Prices are good from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at select stores on November 11th.
I suggest you call your store to make sure they are participating.
Prior to the event, a line of members and their guests will form outside the store. Starting with the front of the line, store employees will hand out tickets for advertised items to customers with invitations. The tickets, limited to 1 ticket per invitation, per each item, grant the customer the ability to buy the item (The Dynex Mouse ticket will ensure customer gets the mouse for Free). We are unable to guarantee all customers in line will receive a ticket.
No rainchecks or substitutions. Not available at BestBuy.com® or by phone. Best Buy’s price match policy does not apply to items in this ad and is not valid on prior purchases. One of each item per customer. Products must be purchased on same receipt to receive bundle savings.
If you are still unable to get the Wii, check out our Hot Deals forum CLICK HERE daily as we post deals for the Wii console when they are available online. Last week we had the Wii available for purchase at Amazon in which alot of members were able to get in on. We will continue to keep you posted as soon as they become available online. _________________ Coupon Codes ~ FREE Registration ~ Daddyodeals Hottest Deals
Here's a question we were discussing at work today. Best Buy has a policy that if an item goes on sale within 30 days of you purchasing it, they will refund you the difference between what you paid, and the sale price. What prevents one from going to Best Buy and buying a Wii right now, then going back on Nov 11 and asking them to refund the difference? In looking at Best Buy's policy, it looks like they are protected from this by an exception for limited quantity items. In other words, if they have a sale on a limited quantity item, you can't ask for them to refund you for the higher price you previously paid. Do all stores have a similar policy? For example Sears doesn't seem to have a similar exclusion in thier policy, so why couldn't someone pay the full price for an item a few days before Black Friday, then go in on Black Friday and ask them to refund you the difference between what you paid, and the Black Friday sale price?
