The Essence of Love
"All of these poems were written to reflect how I had been touched by love in some special way. For instance, "No Other Love," was written to express what I was feeling when I gave it to my soon-to-be husband, Howard, on Valentine's Day over thirty years ago. That night he proposed to me. I wrote the poem "I Love You" for Howard's 50th birthday. It brought tears of joy to his eyes, as well as mine. "I'm Waiting," was the result of an experience that affected us both deeply. My husband had gone out hours before and I didn't know where he was. More time passed and still no call from him. Finally, he returned but the almost overwhelming relief I felt was tempered by how angry I was that he didn't let me know where he had gone. That is, until he told me he had been searching high and low for just the right birthday present to give me and forgot the time. He bought a beautiful gold locket to replace the one my father had given to me before he died. The locket had fallen when the chain it was on broke, and I didn't realize it. It was lost forever and I was so saddened, but elated when Howard put the replacement locket around my neck. I know that no matter how bad things get, it is love that sustains us. I hope my poems convey the love I have been blessed to share."

Hey, JerseyGirl,
Many thanks for posting that here. I appreciate it. That's a true story of mine. They have the wrong picture up of my cover, though.
