ADORABLE!!
In 1996 Elmo first showed the world his predilection for tickles. Tickle Me Elmo is remembered as one of the most difficult-to-find toys of the 1996--or any--holiday season. Ten years later, T.M.X. Elmo was unveiled to the world on Good Morning America on September 19. The most secretly guarded toy of the pre-holiday season, if not all time, T.M.X. Elmo was shown only to a few toy-industry insiders prior to his release. This secrecy didn't stop thousands of pre-orders from piling up, though, and now that all is known, the obvious question is, Does T.M.X. Elmo deserve the hype? T.M.X. Elmo is not meant for cuddles or hand holding or swaddling. This Elmo is all about tickles. Sit T.M.X. Elmo down and hit one of his three "tickle" spots. There's one under his chin, one on his belly, and one on top of his foot. Yes, this Elmo wiggles just like he did 10 years ago, but that's just the start. Elmo slaps his belly, falls forward with his butt sticking out, stands back up again only to topple backwards, kicks his legs over his belly, and then stands right back up, all while laughing hysterically. T.M.X Elmo requires 6 AA batteries, which are included, although these wore down quickly in our review copy. Elmo also has an on/off switch, so the tickles can be brought to an end when more than just Elmo has had too much. In the end, T.M.X. Elmo is undeniably a trooper. Early reviews show that this turbocharged version of Tickle Me Elmo will follow the stellar path enjoyed by his much simpler predecessor.

| I reading something about the rollout of TMX Elmo ... people who have seen it are commited to secrecy, but that the technology is a HUGE step ahead... interesting how they are keeping it under wraps... |

I don't know if this is true but here is another Elmo TMX spoiler. I found this on ebay from someone who already bought Elmo.
YOU WILL LOVE THIS!!! This version of the "Tickle Me" series from the folks at Sesame Street is the most animated toy I have seen. The first tickle puts Elmo in the floor rolling around and laughing...the second tickle and Elmo laughs harder and longer...the third tickle and Elmo literally rolls around the floor before finally landing on his belly pounding on the floor with this hand, begging you to stop. After each tickle, Elmo resumes his upright standing position. |

I read the release and this could be a high-demand item this holiday season. If yo9u're thinking of purchasing for the holidays, PREORDER it now before it opens to the general public tomorrow:
| Quote: | | Ms. Sirard explains that with the toy's late shipping to retailers, if consumer demand greatly exceeds expectations, given the sophisticated engineering involved in T.M.X. ELMO, it may be particularly difficult to fill retailers' re-orders this year. "However, we do expect to be making deliveries right up until Christmas and into 2007," she says. |

| Ok, ok, I wasn't going to give in, but I saw on another board that Sears.com has it on sale for $31.99 plus $6.95 for shipping, but you can get a rebate on the shipping. I couldn't resist. I'll decide later on whether to ebay it or give it to my DD. |

So what the heck is TMX Elmo? It's basically the new incarnation of the old Tickle Me Elmo that had moms in a frenzy a few years ago. This new TMX Elmo is expected to sell out every single unit this holiday season. Preorder it from Amazon and get free shipping and no sales tax to most states. Don't regret not preordering it when November comes along.
Toys R Us http://www.toysrus.com
TMX Elmo - 'currently not available online'
TMX Elmo Spanish - $39.99 + $5.69 shipping.
Barbie-Elmo - 'backordered 9-26' - $19.99 + free shipping
Christie-Elmo - 'backordered 9-26' - $19.99 + free shipping
http://www.walmart.com
Wal-Mart
TMX Elmo - OOS, no way to backorder
TMX Elmo Spanish - OOS
Barbi-Elmo - OOS
http://www.sears.com
Sears.com
TMX Elmo - OOS, no way to backorder, $31.99 with free ship AR
http://www.kbtoys.com
KBtoys.com
TMX Elmo - OOS
Barbie-Elmo - $19.99 + $4.24 shipping
KB is apparently also eToys.com since the sites are identical.
http://www.KMart.com: Not selling TMX
http://www.Target.com: 'In Stores' only - although I ordered mine from http://www.amazon.com to be fulfilled by Target
JCPenney, Kohls, Macys, Bloomies - Not selling TMX
http://www.shoppbs.com had TMX Elmo is stock on Tuesday and Wednesday. Alot of orders went through, but last night cancellation emails were sent out. They truly did not have enough in stock for the extremely high demand.
There's always ebay: http://www.ebay.com - prices are coming down a little. I'd hold off a few weeks and see if Elmo comes back into stock in any of the above stores. I'll try to keep you all posted.
Good Luck!
If anyone sees Elmo in stock, please post. Thanks.

Mattel is hoping it's the next "must have" toy this holiday season. TMX Elmo launches in stores today, the 10th anniversary of the original Tickle Me Elmo doll. They've kept the new doll's features such a big secret, stores didn't even get their shipments until late last night.
Our Jeff Kulikowsky was at Target in Clay early this morning to give Central New York its very first look at the doll. Does it live up to the hype?
The doll retails for $39.95 and comes with 6 AA batteries included. The box offers absolutely no clue about what the doll looks like, or what it does... it's supposed to be a total surprise. When you open a flap on the front of the box, Elmo reminds you, "No peeking!"
But purchase Elmo, and you can pull him out of the box and see what all the hype is about. When you tickle the furry red puppet's tummy, he laughs so much, he falls down. He may even roll onto his side. But unlike cheaper, flimsier toys of decades past... Elmo actually gets back up!
Jeff Kulikowsky was live at Target in Clay this morning. They are limiting customers to just 2 TMX Elmos each. Other stores like Toys-R-Us and amazon.com have been taking "pre-sale" orders, and displaying digital countdowns to Elmo's big debut.
Will there be a major rush for TMX Elmo? Will we see the dolls selling for hundreds, or even thousands of dollars on Ebay, like the original dolls in 1996? Time will tell. As of Tuesday, we've got 96 days to go until Christmas. |

According to CNN, this will be the hottest holiday toy (most in-demand):
http://money.cnn.com/2006/09/19/news/companies/elmo_tmx/index.htm?cnn=yes
Tough to get?
Jim Silver, editor of Toy Wishes magazine, said Elmo T.M.X. has the potential of being one of the blockbuster toys of the year, especially in the pre-school category.
However, the new Elmo could very well become "extremely" hard to find.
"Because the technology is so complicated, it's taking longer to make the new Elmo. Fisher-Price is only making between 50 to 60 percent of the full-year production of the new Elmo," Silver said, adding that Fisher-Price typically produces a million and a half units of Elmo for the holidays.
"There's going to be a shortage for T.M.X.," he said. |
