Very Rare Looking Laughing Rock Found By Elvis Presley As A Kid
Photo Gallery Below
This is a very strange looking rock that was found by Elvis Presley as a kid. I know what you are thinking (sure it was). Well believe it or not it is true and here is the story to go with it:
Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on the east side of town on January 8,1935 to Vernon and Gladys Presley. Now the rest of the story. David Miller's grandfather Doc Miller and Vernon share cropped together and were good friends. David Miller's grandfather Doc had 1 daughter and 5 sons including David Miller's father. One of David Miller's Dad's brothers was the same age as Elvis. His name was Charles and they were close friends. Doc had a small service station and Elvis and Charles went there a lot and played together. One day they were in a field close to the station and Elvis found this rock that looked like a hippo and stuck it in his pocket and took it home where he kept it. About 6 years later when Elvis was 13 his family decided to move to Memphis,Tennessee and as they were about to drive away Elvis gave the rock to Charles to remember him by. Several years later Charles joined the Navy and was on his way to basic training. When he returned from basic training he was home for a few weeks before he headed to California where he would be stationed. Before he left he gave the rock to David Miller's Dad and told him to keep it because Elvis would be famous some day and he would have a piece of that fame forever. Well now David Miller had the rock and has had it for about 20 years and thought he would just see if maybe someone out there might be interested in purchasing this famous rock. He didn't know if it is worth much but he did know it had a lot of sentimental value especially knowing that Elvis found it and keeped it for years as a child.

On January 22, 2006 at 18:28:57 PST, David Miller put the rock on ebay under the category Everything Else > Weird Stuff > Totally Bizarre, with a starting bid of 99¢. The auction ended on January 29, 2006 at 18:28:57 PST. It was Item number: 5659281155. There was 4071 on the hits counter. I won the auction. Here are some of the Questions and Answers that accumulated on the auction: Q: I am no rocket scientist but that rock looks like gold. is the piece very heavy...... Jan-27-06 A: Trust me it is not gold but it is a real rock and there is nothing man made about it. It is just as it was found. Q: I'm interested in your item as long as your willing to send me the story signed by you along with this item thank you, Dan. By the way its a great story and thanks for offering this item. Jan-27-06 A: That would be no problem. Q: Why are you deciding to sale a piece of your family's history? Don't you want to keep it and enjoy the story and pass it on in your family? just curious.... Jan-26-06 A: Well actually I was thinking of keeping it but I don't have any close relatives to pass it down to. I was cleaning out some old boxes I had stored in the attic for 15 years and just happened to find it. Q: While I understand you have limited documentation, can you at least put the story in print, with all of the names, dates, and places, as you known them, and sign it so that the buyer has some historical info on the Elvis rock? Jan-24-06 A: That would be no problem at all as a matter of fact I know the story by heart because I have heard it so many times. Q: What kind of documentation does it come with? Jan-23-06 A: All I have is the story which I told in the listing. I do know that the Lee County library in Tupelo has old newspapers with some articles and pictures of my grandad and Vernon together.
Thanks for looking and have a great day. |
